Why Onstar Needs To Get On Board

As another great example of a company that would do well to start a blog, I came across a radio spot where a woman was frantic because her child was locked in the car.  Onstar was there to save the day!  What a great way to sell a product and service.  You always get to be the hero.  Your company is always there to save the day!  These are all very good testimonials.  Why would you not want to put a new testimony of how great your product and service is every day in front of the customer?  It takes time to produce a radio spot like I heard, and I’m sure that the cost is not easy to swallow on a National level.  A blog would do the very same, but at minimal cost and with the possibility for some great feedback from the real world.

I have been a customer of the Onstar service, and I did happen to go to their website a few times.  Specifically, I wanted to learn more about some of the things they had to offer and wanted to know how their service worked.  I also wanted to know if the service was available as a retrofit, or if it was only available on new GM vehicles.  These would be the types of things I would look for when typing in my search on Google.  I would look for “Onstar and retrofitting”.  If I were Onstar, I would be certain that I had an article or information piece about retrofitting and Onstar.  It would assure that I would get on that search result.

Bob Lutz GM’s Vice Chairman is blogging at the GM Fastlane Blog and this would be a superior way to cross reference articles about the Onstar service and GM vehicles.  Not once on the GM Fastlane Blog do I see anything having to do with a great service provided by Onstar for their car buyers.  My advice to Onstar and to Bob Lutz?  Time to get on the blog wagon and begin to reap some benefit of the blogosphere!
