What’s A Blogger Worth?
Stephen Baker at Blogspotting the BusinessWeek.com blog asks:
“As Om and Scoble depart, how does a company value a blogger?”
A fair question as we have not yet really had bloggers as a career of late. I discussed this issue when it came up in September of last year and it does not appear that the picture is any more clear. I see more and more companies hiring bloggers, or corporate communication specialists and PR blogging representatives, but I’m not sure if these are specifically blogger jobs or if they are just a job requirement.
In answer to Stephen’s question, I would suggest that the name and brand of these bloggers is more what is of value than was their position as bloggers. They are tops in their field and great communicators. Their abilities as employees are what they are worth. As bloggers? Most anyone can download a blog application and start writing about something of interest, but these two were the elite in their conversations.
I send Robert and Om both well wishes in their new ventures. Now if I can just get on that Microsoft site to see if they have posted for Robert’s job yet. I’m with Hugh MacLeod on this one when he posts his cartoon. Yes, Hugh I’m a sheep!

I’m scratching my head, folks. As a SEO content developer, I’m familiar with the blogging. However, I’ve left my corporate position and am now consulting. A SEO agency I am working with has asked me if I would be interested in a blogging for hire gig with one of their clients. I have no idea what is a fair and reasonable fee to charge! The client is medium-sized, not a major corporate brand. Help!
