Professional Bloggers and Somali Goat Farmers

Posted on September 19th, 2006

Reading through my RSS search feeds today there was a treat I didn’t expect.  Over at The Consumerist, they have a post about Coinstar and a woman that was upset about a transaction fee.  It really has nothing to do with hiring bloggers or professional blogging except a quote from the post that showed up in my RSS reader:

Look, we understand that that’s lame. Coinstar should allow you to opt out, or at least inform you that the terms have changed. But it’s two dollars and ninety four cents. Were you really going to scoop all your coins back into that moist sock? We’re professional bloggers — that means our monthly income is comparable to that of a Somali goat farmer. I am missing an eye after an internal squabble over an expired can of beans spiraled out of control. But even we think $2.94 isn’t worth getting upset about. (emphasis added.)

It gave me quite the chuckle to hear this quote and to the writer, I extend my hand to shake and say well done on the verbage.  I also extend a helping hand to invite the blogger to perhaps make a little more than the average Somali Goat Farmer.
