Blogger Disability and other Blogging Emergencies

Posted on February 21st, 2006

I am currently suffering from Blogger Disability. No, that does not explain the lack of posting here, because I have a whole corps of bloggers, and three partners to help contribute to this and other blogs. Our excuse, if there really is such a thing, for not blogging much here is just the sheer volume of work we have been trying to accomplish, but I digress. My blogger disability is food related. I know that seems odd, but I’ll explain. While preparing for the family meal on Saturday evening, I was slicing some flank steak for a stir fry I was making. Yes, you guessed correctly, a knife and a finger sometimes meet. Unfortunately it makes typing a real chore. I have typed this much in about triple the time it would have taken had I not tried to lop off my hunt and peck typing finger. This creates a terrible problem for a blogger that needs to post about 20 articles a day. This allows me to provide some advice about preparing for emergencies. On numerous occasions, we have had problems arise with our own bloggers not being able to post to the blogs of clients. Be it hurricanes, flu, or yes even electrical blackouts, we have had an emergency that did not allow us to go forward with posting content. This causes a ripple effect throughout our own bloggers. What needs to be done to alleviate these problems arising from mayhem? I suggest a backup plan, or a plan B if plan A is not possible. Professional Bloggers should have an emergency plan for the unforeseen problems that arise in our daily lives, and perhaps should have a backup blogger waiting in the wings as an understudy because the show must go on. The downtime on some blogs could be devastating financially, and could carry a harsh reality of losing possible clients and other revenue. Better to be prepared for an emergency than to be caught without a plan. A series of backup blog posts and a possible backup blogger should be figured into your blog planning, or you could find yourself with lost income and opportunity.  I wonder if I can get a disability policy for just such emergencies?  Perhaps I just need a stupidity policy for those times when I mistake my hunt and peck typing finger for flank steak.
