I will be living it up in Vegas but at the same time talking about companies hiring bloggers and how blogger can earn money while using their skills as bloggers.
Of course the idea of living it up in Vegas is relative as I am actually working. At the same time I am also revamping the site a little at One By One Media, as we are trying out some new look and feel and upgrading the WordPress application to the new version of 2.7.
I attended the event today and listened to some real rock stars. I have some celebrities I have to follow tomorrow as well that will make me have to bring my A game. I am really looking forward to it. You can even watch the event tomorrow live on their live feed using the Ustream application for their event. You might say I’m in my church away from church.

Some of the things that is an important part of being a professional blogger or being a blogger that companies want to hire is your online portfolio or what they can find of your work. You need to build your online presence that can be found by potential employers or companies looking to hire your services. I ran across that very chance to increase your resume. My friend Peter is calling for articles for Website Magazine:

“If you are a Web professional who has mastered SEO, SEM, analytics, Web design, Web development, e-commerce or affiliate marketing, and are interested in being published in the most widely distributed print publication on Web success, send an email with a brief descirption of your idea(s) for an article to editors@websitemagazine.com or contact WM online now.”

Get yourself published in some of these places and you might get that job over someone that is not as “experienced”.

I have been following Hugh MacLeod for quite some time and he continues to come up with gems like this one above. I am pretty sure I need to make this a business card.

My friend and colleague Marshall Kirkpatrick writes about a new company that has hired bloggers to write for them over at Discovery’s The Science Channel.  They have hired three new professional bloggers to report on their site called Nerdabout.com, a site dedicated to the tech world outside the world of Silicon Valley.  So far they have only hired for Portland, Austin and New York City according to Marshall’s post, but I am curious whether this will continue in other venues like Las Vegas, Boulder, or other places where the world of tech reaches.

I have another client that has launched a new tech site as well called www.techstartups.com.  We have yet to really break onto the scene with much of a splash, but I think that once we get more established in the area, we will be seen as one of the tope tech startup sites to get information.  Easton Ellsworth of Know More Media Fame, is on board writing professionally for the TechStatup.com team.  Go on over and let him know I sent you over!
