Avoid these common grammar errors when you blog

Brian over at Copyblogger has another great post on grammar errors to avoid:

It?s time once again to review those nasty errors that damage our credibility when we write. Not normally a fun task, but absolutely necessary. I promise to keep you amused to diminish the pain (or at least I?ll give it a shot).

As with the last time we explored grammatical errors, I feel compelled to mention that copywriting and blogging should be conversational and engaging, and breaking formal grammatical and spelling conventions can often be a good thing. Every time I see a comment complaining about something like, oh, I don?t know? the improper use of an ellipsis or one-sentence paragraphs, I shake my head with sadness. Source: Do You Make These Mistakes When You Write? | Copyblogger

Sure, blogging is supposed to be less formal than other forms of communication, and Lord knows Jim and I make enough mistakes ourselves, but when you’re blogging for your business you do need to take some extra care and proofread your posts–spell check too!–before hitting that magic “Publish” button.

Oh and if you do find and error later, just go back and edit the post.  I’m sure no one noticed.

You have an error in your next to last sentence.
“if you do find and error” should be
“if you do find an error”

Certainly, it’s very important to keep check on grammatical mistakes – specially for professional blogs.

I do keep on cross checking my posts and reading them atleast once in my blog to make sure everything in spelling, grammar and look n feel of post is great.

I enjoyed all your great blogging tips. I have been blogging since March, 2007 so I consider myself a “virgin blogger.” I am using my blog to consolidate a number of essays I have written on various topics, along with sharing some social commentary. Many of my posts are pretty long! I have not figured out how to do shorten the posts with the “click here to continue”feature so that one post does not on and on and on and, well you get it. While the site is geared towards academics and scholarly sorts I think this is a turn off and folks will be too impatient to continue scrolling through long posts to get to others. Even though I have an archives it is still problematic. How do I custom design my blog to integrate this feature that I know will enhance my blog?
