Be Cautious About Free Content

Darren Rowse over at Problogger has a great piece today on why it is he doesn’t use free articles for his blog posts. This is something that has been asked of me often by clients wanting to know if there is an easy way out of having to put good quality content on their sites each day, and question “why can’t we just put any old content on the site?” Darren makes for some excellent points about the use of just “any” content from other sources:

•Poor Quality of Articles •Easy Reader Confusion

• Cheap and Nasty?(speaks for itself)

•Fear of Duplicate Content

These are great reasons for providing your own quality content on your weblog. If you need quality content, consider hiring a blogger that has special knowledge of your company and of the topics that your weblogs covers. You will realize a better return on your investment and the content will be suited just for you.

I have a business and have been personally blogging for roughly 6 months. I do enjoy it and it is addictive but I find I need to focus on other things. I am seriously looking for a person to blog for in my spot and pay a stipen, probably once a month. I have laid out the guidelines I feel my ideal blogger should follow.

My question here is where do I begin to assess how much I’ll need to pay them to do it? I know it depends on the niche and the guidelines so I was wondering if there was some layout, or “scale” in which I could compare my niche and guidelines to in order to get a good grasp on my pay out…

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!
