"If your company has a website I must regretfully inform you, your website is dead.".

How many of you think that this is a crazy statement? This was a bold statement thrown out by a speaker to the audience of more than 300 business owners at that Blog Business Summit in San Francisco last week. This caused quite a stir with those that just finished spending $100,000 on a site to promote and develop their business from a marketing and advertising standpoint. The website brochure they just completed is now obsolete?
Of course, this statement was made by a Blog Evangelist, but for the most part, it had more truth to the statement than not. How many of you that have great websites would love to come in Monday morning and make a pitch to your customers that day? How many of you need an act of congress from your IT department before that can be done?
Your competitor just responded to the cost of widgets and how they are dealing with the cost and its impact on you their customer as the price for widgets doubled that morning. You are a month behind on this news, and your website administrator or webmaster is still trying to get into the office because she is on maternity leave or he is out fishing in the wild of Canada. If you could be that quick to communicate would it be worth it? Do any of you still like that $100,000 website?
