Steve Rubel at Micropersuasion links to an article by Mary Jacobs at timesunions.com entitled “Getting blogs on your side”.The article discusses the hiring of professional bloggers for companies that want to enter into the blogosphere to get their message heard in the new medium of blogs.

“Corporate bloggers must know how to navigate untested waters. Most corporate bloggers find themselves inventing the role.”

According to the article companies are paying between $40,000 to $70,000 annually for a professional blogger. That is a luxury that obviously many other companies cannot afford. What does a small company do to compete with the larger companies? The playing field can be leveled by contracting a blogger, without having to pay a huge salary, benefits and providing office equipment and space. The beauty of the internet has leveled the staffing problems associated with the brick and mortar corporations and the hiring process. Indeed the role of a corporate blogger is a new and exciting arena, and companies need not invent the role but must just embrace those already in the game.
